Office!

This is part of what I did with my last 5 days off work.....
Before:

After:

Nothing too drastic, just mostly wanted to cover up some of the paint samples that were on the wall from when we first moved in. It was a wonderful 5 days off and now I have a 2 day work week! Woo-hooo!

SNOW!

It is snowing right now! YEA! It has slowed down a bit now, but it was big beautiful snowflakes, not the teensty little sleet-flakes that we occasionally get. As much as I dislike cold weather, I love snow. I am currently on day 5 of my 5 days off work and this is the perfect way to end it!

Ugly warm bathrobe? Check!
Huge mug of chai latte? Check!
Netflixs to catch up on? Check!
Ingredient to make stew? Check!

Those, my friends, are makings for a wonderful lazy day at home and I couldn't be happier to have an excuse to stay in!

PS. I have been a busy little bee the past 4 days, painted the office, wiil post pictures later today! Hope everyone is warm and toasty and most importantly safe with this winter weather!

SALSA!

In an effort to step outside our comfort zone and do more in life than just home renovations, we took a salsa dancing class last night! Our friends Ryan and Erica have been taking this class for while and I'm so happy they invited us to join!
This will be us in a few short weeks....

"Where'd Andy go?"

I often wonder where oh where has my sweet hubby disappeared to, we'll be sitting on the couch and I I don't know if he is just sneaky or if I'm just oblivious to everything around me (pretty sure it's the latter) but I will suddenly realize he isn't there anymore. I know exactly were to go....

I just went snapped this picture because it's a familiar scene. At times it can drive me a little nutty, but I love that Andy is such a hard worker and definitely loves to be tinkering in the garage!

The best things in life are free...the second best things are cheap...

Who doesn't love a good deal? One of my favorite things! Here are a some deal I've done in the last couple of weeks....

Tonight I got all this for $4!

While grocery shopping last week, HEB had a ton of stuff on close-out that was super cheap! Lots of healthy stuff which can be hard to find on sale! I spent about $11 on these items but saved $39!

This Walgreens/CVS trip cost me $14, which I was still really happy with b/c I got a ton of face cleanser which can be expensive!

It's been fun figuring out the deals and Andy and I have even been doing it together. We are a good team b/c I am very timid about trying to stack a bunch of coupons and get intimidated by the process sometimes and he just goes for it and attempts to use as many coupons as possible. Anyways, we have fun and save money which is definitely a good combination!

The not-so-yellow room....

The first room we painted when we moved into the house was 3rd bedroom. We had not yet learned about the best invention known to man kind-tiny paint samples- so we bought the most obnoxiously bright yellow paint and learned to live with this retina-scarring color that made us continually think the light was left on when it wasn't....

It was Molly's room for awhile, for about a month some friends stayed in that room, then it was my office, then it became a guest room. Lots of changes but finally we decided to change the wall color.

What do you think?

The window will get replace as well, but we had to custom order that, so it will be in the next 4-6 weeks. Andy, as always, did a great job installing new crown molding and baseboards. I love me some bright white glossy moldings!
I think I am slowly learning that just because I l-o-v-e bright colors doesn't mean I have to cover every walls with them. There's something to be said for nice calming colors. Oh snap, does that mean I'm growing up?

Super Bowl Par-tay

So we had a Super Bowl party with our young Married group from church last night! It was a lot of fun and we had A LOT of people come. I think I counted 34 adults, 2 kids, and 2 babies! It was a tight squeeze to say the least! It really made me appreciate and love everyone that much more because they were so gracious even though about 1/2 of everyone there spent the evening sitting on the floor!

Watching the game

There was a ton of food, this is just the meats....

I didn't get a good picture, but most of the girls sat on the floor in the completely empty guest room and we ate, talked, and played Loaded Questions. Had so much fun ladies!!!!

The cutest little family that I know!

It was a great evening and I am on a bit of a greasy food and sweets hang-over today but it was totally worth it! God really blessed us with the friendships we have from church and we always enjoy time with everyone. Maybe next time we can have chair to sit in!

Projects, projects, and then some more projects

Sorry for the lack of posts, we have been busy little bees! Unfortunately nothing blog-worthy. I mean, I know you guys are my friends/family, but I'm not going to subject to the perils of dry-walling our garage. Yes, that is what we did all last weekend. Yes, it was 30 degrees. Yes, it was bad timing. No, I did not do it with a joyful heart. I tried to...but it just wasn't happening....
So we got to use our new concrete mixer (who knew concrete could be fun?) and poured a concrete slab on the side of the house for Andy to build a little storage unit for his metal, ripped out a lot of janky rotted dry wall in the garage, replaced it, painted the walls sandstone gray, and are in the process of slowly putting everything back in the garage.
Then I decided I wanted my own project to work on (aka: needed an excuse to not freeze my hiney off in the garage) so I decided to tackle "the yellow room". So I painted the walls and the ceiling! Then I realized painting is just about the only thing I could do on my own, so been waiting for Andy to put up the new baseboards and crown molding, which we worked on last night till about 11pm. Tomorrow I am going to paint them and then we will be done...for now. I am super happy with the way it turned out, and will post pictures next week!
I never really thought that I was a neat freak, but having all the contents of the garage (which is A LOT: imagine a Sears tool dept exploding inside your house) scattered throughout most our house made me insane. Not like "wow, it's really annoying to crawl over this welder to get into bed" but more like "I CANNOT handle this mess one second longer!" and feeling anxiety everything I look at it. I'm very happy that we are having a Super Bowl Party so we have a deadline of this Sunday to "git er done"!
Hope everyone is staying warm on toasty and had a fabulous week!
